One day in Lanzarote
We arrived in Lanzarote late on Friday, tired after many delays. But on Saturday, we woke up happy and eager to get to know the volcanic island of Lanzarote.
Starting the day as it should, at a sidewalk cafe with bad coffee. We stayed in Arrecife, which is the capital of the island. If you're looking for more of a beach vibe and a typical holiday experience, I would recommend staying somewhere else, but it suited us.
We walked along the water, posing when we felt the urge.
And watching the runners of the Lanzarote Marathon that happened to be on this very day. Some ran fast, some walked, some looked happy, and some not so happy. I hate running but somehow made an agreement with Alex that we should run a marathon next year. Well, he can do it himself!
Jumped into a car and headed towards the volcano Cuervo. On our way, we passed these ground formations everywhere. Pjotr said they have something to do with the local wine, but who knows.
The volcano Cuervo, with its beautiful peak, and me, not at all prepared for the heavy rain that started five minutes later.
Then we went to Lagomar, an interesting and stunning house turned museum. Pjotr wanted to show his hands in this picture since women regularly compliment him for their sexiness. Let me know what you think!
The house was very soft in its curves everywhere, and the limit between inside and outside was smeared out. I loved it.
Then we went to another kind of museum, Jameos del Agua. It was a beautiful mix of science (lava science!) and lovely scenery, created by Cesar Manrique, an artist whom I hadn't heard of before but who apparently was a leading figure in designing much of the most famous architecture in Lanzarote.
Imaging playing a concert here!
Then we went back to Arrecife, had dinner, and then the next day we were off to another island!
