Chatuchack Weekend Market
One of the reasons we decided to spend a week in Bangkok, even though we've been here quite a lot before, was that I really wanted to buy some clothes. I appreciate the style of clothing made and sold in Thailand; there's a lot of cotton, and although I'm not an expert on fabrics, the material often feels sturdy and natural. I'm sure the quality can vary, but I found a lovely little brand last year, and their clothes have served me well over the year— not breaking and maintaining their shape even when heavily worn.
You can find those clothes, along with everything else you could possibly need (or not), at Chatuchak Weekend Market.
As the name implies, it's a market open on the weekends, starting on Friday evening, I think, but we only went during the daytime. You can get here by taking the sky-train to Mo Chit and then just follow the huge crowd of people. It's spread over a very large area, so if you're looking for something specific, I recommend figuring out beforehand which section you should explore.
I think you're supposed to haggle in places like this, but dear, I really don't have that in me! My dad, when traveling way back, used to put on his sunglasses, aka 'haggle glasses,' when doing it, saying that it helped him haggle like a pro.
I wasn't really on the lookout for anything else than some nice clothes, so our visit was rather short.
See you maybe next year, Chatuchak Market!
