Thursday and Friday in Belgrade
P arrived on Thursday afternoon and I was so happy to do Belgrade with some company!
After checking in at his hotel we made our way to Dorćol, the area where I and Alex live.
We tried out a bar I’ve gone past several times that looked cute, Blaznavac.
Warm beer and mostly 18 year olds there it turned out, but all was good and spirits were high. Then we walked around ooh-ing and aah-ing over all the great, gray, dirty and absolutely stunning architecture.
We snatched Alex when he was done with his meetings and went out for dinner.
On Friday the three of us started the day with coffee at sh sh bar (шш бар) for the third morning in a row, before Alex left us to go to work. Me and P went to a lovely bakery called Pekarska Radionica and I felt at home.
I love it when the flour bags are everywhere and the flour dust hangs in the air and the bakers looks strong and capable, feels like good old times when I was working at my first bakery job, at the time the best bakery in Stockholm without a doubt.
Happy!
We jumped on the tram heading for the beautiful church of Saint Sava and our picnic spot.
On our way we found a cute specialty coffee place where we bought coffee. I bought some beans to take home with me.
They were selling decaf beans, but after a few rather awful decaf coffee experience I’m always a bit hesitant about buying that nowadays. I tried to suss out if these were actually tasty or not and the woman seemed to subtly say that there weren’t great. Instead she recommended a coffee with less caffeine. No processes involved - just a bean with naturally less caffeine. Looking forward to give it a try!
Best breakfast in Belgrade!
The church was stunning of course, the ortodox ones usually are…
As always when travelling with P, we jumped on a random tram and to see where it would take us. Again, mostly looking out the windows, loving the big gray mass of huge buildings towering up in the New Belgrade area.
When we felt we where getting far enough out of town, and I almost felt heat stroked, we stepped off and found a bus taking us back to town.
After a late lunch with very eastern service we went to Eklektika 40 for Turkish coffee, lemonade and some mediocre cake. Nice music playing though, made it feel like we were back in 2011 pre-partying before going to a techno club.
Finished the day, and our little Belgrade trip, at Skica with bad prosecco and good view!
See you Belgrade, wouldn’t mind coming back!
